Project Management System (PMS), Set Up and Development for DAL Property Development Company

Abstract

This paper provides guidelines of the systematic steps for the development and the documentation necessary to ensure an effective project management system (PMS). The PMS has been established to the specific needs of DAL Property Development Company (DPD). The document outlines project management principles, DPD PMS project identification, the methodology and approach with the most current skills, tools and knowledge used for the system development. It also describes the roadmap of the main phases for the PMS set-up which included system development planning, documentation, implementation and monitoring control. The PMS model has been documented and presented with its deliverables based on the International Standards Organization (ISO) model of quality management system that takes into consideration the requirements of the ISO standards of management systems. The PMS model of best practices has been reviewed and approved by DPD top management for implementation and continual improvement in company’s projects management. Recommendations are presented to highlight the importance of the establishment of PMS and the use of standards with proper systems documentation towards the enhancement of quality performance of various activities of projects management.
