Abstract

It is possible that with changing economic and social conditions, the Gross and Net Reproduction of the Japanese Americans may rise in the future, but it is very improbable that they will ever reach the height of the early twenties. By the late twenties, the downward trend in fertility and upward trend in survival had set in. The Japanese in America have failed to become the demographic "dragon" that threatened to imperil the white race on the Pacific Coast. Instead, they have efficiently adapted themselves to the demographic way of life of other Americans.
