Abstract
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method for improving the compression ratio of an image which significantly changes color, in a direction that coincides with the compression direction. SOLUTION: The image processor counts the continuous number of blocks, in order starting from a left block, while taking into consideration the relation between the number of colors comprising the block and color of the previous block. In this case, following a first block comprising two colors, a second block of the same color as that of color of the first block is input. Then, when blocks comprising one color which is identical to that of the second block continue (second to fourth), the image processing apparatus encodes the first to the fourth blocks, as a continuation of one-color block following a two-color block, into a code indicating identification information to that effect, a continuation number of two-color blocks, each color information on the two colors, information which designates the color of one-color block that is one of the two colors, and the continuation number of one-color blocks.
