Abstract

South Africa, like many developing countries, faces significant challenges in the sustainable provision of adequate and safe water services. A well recognised challenge is water quality management by municipalities, with many municipalities continuing to have inadequate water treatment and the associated water quality management practises in place; Both affect the provision of safe drinking water and the controlled discharge of treated effluent into the environment.
