Abstract

This study aimed to develop a propulsion design concept for smart drones (UAVs - Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) mimicking bacterial flagellar motor that can be found in many bacterial cells. A preliminary propulsion design concept was developed based on using the conventional turbojet without the turbine to run the compressor following the flagellar motor organization. Design analysis through analytical and computations was carried out in terms of power/thrust generated as part of various design variables for the design concept considered.
