Abstract

th Abstract:-Novels in India began to develop from the 16 century. since then novel became a viable medium to express historical consciousness. Literature is a true mirror of social history. History gets new dimention in literature. The Historical Novels have done a theoretical examination of the interaction between history and fiction. In modern times ,the novelists like Salman Rushdie and Amitav Ghosh has used Indian history extensively. The present paper aims at a study of the growth and development of historical novels and the analysis of select historical novels in Indian literature.
