It is claimed that in the near future, energy utilities should seriously rethink their BM and the possibility of designing new services in digitally intensive environments using smart appliances and sensors is claimed.
The aim of this paper is to consider the main principles of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Internet of Everything (IoE) within the context of building a Business Model (BM) and data flow limitations for the ebalance EU project. Authors have addressed the need of creation of a business model type, which will be dedicated to the concept of the Internet of Things. Initial results for the e-balance platform with technical and organizational architecture and BM have also been presented. This application is in the area of IoT and Smart Grid (SG). One of the key conclusions of this paper is a claim that in the near future, energy utilities should seriously rethink their BM and the possibility of designing new services in digitally intensive environments using smart appliances and sensors.
