§1 Recall and discuss There were several experiments which pointed to inadequacy of the classical thoeries such as mechanics,electromagnetic theory of light, and statistical mechanics. Here we list some of the important experimental facts which had no explanation within the classical theories. 1. Black Body radiation 2. Photoelectric effect 3. Atomic spectra 4. Frank Hertz experiment 5. Compton effect
