MULTI-TRAUMATIC PATIENTS WITH AN ABDOMINAL TRAUMA

Abstract

In the Netherlands 150000 accident victims are taken to a hospital each year; 6000 of them die; one in a hundred is handicapped as a consequence of the trauma. Trauma is the third in line as a cause of death, but 63% of these patients is between 15 and 25 years old. A patient should be operated upon within 4 hours of arrival in the hospital to have a better chance of survival. In the Radboud hospital very good results are obtained in the treatment of traumatic patients. (TRRL)
