Abstract

The study was designed to evaluate the imperative of emotional intelligence in anger control among adults in Nigeria. Emotional intelligence defines the skills to cope with pressures and abilities to regulate, assess and manage emotions in our selves, others and groups. Anger involves negative emotions that can be destructive. The idea of controlling anger is expressed by the Bible Psalmist David. He said 'let anger alone and leave rage, do not show yourself heated up only to do evil'. The survey research method was used for the study with 200 adults as the sample. Data were analyzed by tables, frequencies, percentages and Chi-square statistics. It was found that emotional intelligence was needed for anger control among adults in Nigeria. Five (5) recommendations were made based on the findings of the study.
