[Objective] The aim was to study the effects of different rice varieties and application stages on selenium rich ability of rice.[Method] With Huaan501,Y-liangyou7,Xinliangyou6 as tested materials,using the double factor split-plot design,with the application of 100 mg/kg sodium selenite at booting stage,heading date and full heading time,the effects of different rice varieties and application stages on selenium rich ability of rice were studied.[Result] There was difference between the hybrid rice varieties on absorption to the extraneous source selenium.Spraying the extraneous source selenium at full heading time increased yield significantly and the increasing rate was 0.5%-12.0%.The seed setting rate reduced 0.1%-2.9% with the application of the extraneous source selenium on heading date.The 1 000-grain weight increased 0.2-0.8 g compared with the application at booting stage.The selenium content was the highest with the application on heading date and full heading time.[Conclusion] The effects of foliage spraying selenium at booting stage were the best.
