Essay-novel Conception and the Distinction between The Elegant Novel and the Vulgarity Novel

Abstract

Since late Ming dynasty,influenced by the Literature Trends,people began to view the novel as a type of the essay,and thought the novel must have the essay's function,feature and skill.Such an essay-style's novel conception is called essay-novel conception.Such conception shaped in the late Ming and early Qing dynasty,it promoted the novel to be elegant,and to have the essay's writing and appreciating methods,thus making the essay' quality to be the important feature of the novel.The appearance of the essay-novel conception declared the beginning of distinction between the elegant novel and the vulgarity novel,and promoted the distinction between the writer's novel and the people's novel,which was an important phenomenon of the novel in the Qing dynasty.
