Virtual reality (VR) for laser safety training
This contribution presents sample scenarios for laser safety training using virtual reality that illustrate activities involving laser devices used in industry, medicine, didactic laboratories and laser shows.
Abstract
This contribution presents sample scenarios for laser safety training using virtual reality. The scenarios illustrate activities involving laser devices used in industry, medicine, didactic laboratories and laser shows. The described applications are incorporated into laser safety training conducted by the Central Institute for Labour Protection – National Research institute (CIOP-PIB). The thematic scope of the scenarios was selected based on the analysis of the expectations of participants of training courses conducted at CIOP-PIB. After each training a discussion on the issues of main interest has been carried out and supplemented by the surveys conducted among the participants. The proposed scenarios correspond to the interdisciplinary nature of training (industry, medicine, research, entertainment).
