This paper aims to achieve a high-definition noise filtering process (Edge-preserving smoothing) with high nondestructivity of an image structure in a general image, such as a digital photograph while appropriately coping with a residual noise problem.
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a high-definition noise filtering process (Edge-preserving smoothing) with high nondestructivity of an image structure in a general image, such as a digital photograph while appropriately coping with a residual noise problem. SOLUTION: The method comprises inputting an original image composed of a plurality of pixels, resolving the input original image by multiresolution conversion to create a plurality of low-frequency images having sequential low resolution and a plurality of high-frequency images having sequential low resolution corresponding to each of the low-frequency images, performing noise filtering processing for each of the created low-frequency images and high-frequency images, and acquiring an image created by filtering out noise from the original image based on results of the low-frequency images and high-frequency images performed noise filtration.
