Abstract

The character of a helper/antagonist, as Rumpelstilskin in the famous tale by the Grimm brothers, may also be found in some characters in Greek myths, such as Phineus, Telephus, Nereus. In the Appendix the author discusses the ambivalence of the parent role in the stories including these characters.
