The results of this survey show that discrete CSPD experiences are not sufficient to provide the number of CS teachers needed; rather, teacher preparation programs should include a computer science minor, ensuring a steady stream of well-qualified computer science educators.
This paper describes the results of a survey of high school teachers who participated in computer science teacher professional development (CSPD) workshops. The impact of CSPD on the teachers and their students is identified. The results of this survey show that discrete CSPD experiences are not sufficient to provide the number of CS teachers needed; rather, teacher preparation programs, particularly in mathematics, should include a computer science minor, ensuring a steady stream of well-qualified computer science educators, taught by computer science college and university faculty.
