Abstract

MATH 54H. First-Year Seminar: The Science of Conjecture: Its Math, Philosophy, and History. 3 Credits. Seminar will cover the history and philosophy of probability, evidence, and conjecture, consider the development of the field of probability, and look at current and future uses of probability. Gen Ed: QI. Grading status: Letter grade. MATH 55. First-Year Seminar: Geometry and Symmetry in Nature. 3 Credits. The nature of space imposes striking constraints on organic and inorganic objects. This seminar examines such constraints on both biological organisms and regular solids in geometry. Gen Ed: QI. Grading status: Letter grade.
