Abstract

a cooling plate is provided for use in a transformer in an electric vehicle (EV) or a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV). The cooling plate includes a main portion having a recess formed therein, said recess having a bottom which is adapted to come into contact with the lower surface of the transformer to dissipate heat generated by the transformer. The main portion includes a raised structure which is adapted to come into contact with the winding of the transformer to dissipate heat generated by the transformer. The cold plate further includes a strap member which serves the fastening of the transformer in the cavity of the main portion of the cooling plate, wherein the bracket member is arranged so that it comes with the main portion and the transformer in contact to dissipate heat generated by the transformer. The strap member includes a contact surface that comes with the top surface of the transformer is in contact, wherein the contact surface has an extension which is sufficient to come into contact with substantially the entire top surface of the transformer.
