Abstract
This book represents a Proceedings from the First Asian Congress of Fluid Mechanics, which was held at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in December of 1980. The 16 papers comprising the volume are extended versions of the invited lectures from the Congress. The objectives of the book (and those of the Congress) are to present advances in major areas of fluid mechanics and to highlight fluid mechanics technology in the Asian regions. Both objectives are achieved with this publication. The mix of subjects is well balanced and covers most major topics in fluid mechanics research.
