Abstract

The objective of this experiment is to study the microbiological quality of processing water at a bakery factory in Bandar Baru Bangi by using currently installed filtration system. There were 9 sources of water being studied and the water sampling was done 4 times. The microbiological analyses were colony plate count on R2A agar at 22 0 C incubation, total coliforms, faecal coliforms and E.coli type 1 and total Streptococci using MPN methods. On the whole, there were significant differences between total microorganisms in the same water sources but in different sampling and in different water sources but in the same sampling. There were only faecal coliforms presence in the 4 th sampling in B and C water sources and E. coli was absence in all water sources. Negative results were shown for Streptococci in the 3 rd sampling. As a conclusion, the filtration system was not effective to guarantee the good microbiological quality of water in the bakery factory. Base from this study, the factory has changed into a new water filtration system.
