Abstract

The present invention provides: a novel material that is useful as an organic electroluminescent element material, specifically a heterocyclic compound represented by general formula (1), in which three five-membered rings are fused onto a benzene ring and a saturated or unsaturated ring is fused onto each five-membered ring; a material for organic electroluminescent elements, which uses this heterocyclic compound; an organic electroluminescent element which uses this heterocyclic compound; and an electronic device. (In general formula (1), each of X 1 -X 3 independently represents a linking group that is represented by one of general formulae (2)-(5). In this connection, one or two of the X 1 -X 3 moieties are represented by formula (2) and the other(s) is/are represented by one of general formulae (3)-(5).)
