The electric drive vehicle comprises: an engine (03); a generator (04) driven by the engine (03); a power circuit (30) which provides, as the drive voltage of a load device (12), generator voltage (VR) obtained by rectifying generator output (PR) and trolley voltage (VL) obtained by rectifying received power (PL) from a trolley power supply line (10); and a control means (20) which controls drive of the engine (03) and opening/closing of a plurality of switches provided within the power circuit (30). In the power circuit (30), the set of a second rectifying means (D1) which rectifies the received power from the trolley power supply line (10) and a second switch (S2) connected in series with the second rectifying means (D1) is connected in parallel with respect to the set of a first rectifying means (05) which rectifies the generator output (PR) and a first switch (S1) connected in series with the first rectifying means (05), and a third switch (S3) is connected in parallel with respect to the second switch (S2).
