The Mental Health Review Tribunal determines the ongoing detention of forensic patients, as well as the appropriate conditions for care and treatment.
Forensic patients are people who come into compulsory psychiatric care under a court order as a result of being detained after a finding of not guilty by reason of mental illness or after setting of a limiting term. Under the Mental Health Act 2007 (NSW) the Mental Health Review Tribunal determines the ongoing detention of forensic patients, as well as the appropriate conditions for care and treatment.
