Abstract

removed and the first specimen showed R.B.C. 1,000, W.B.C. 1,300. While the patient was lying on his right side for lumbar puncture about 2 c.c. of fluid of a slightly reddish brown tint ran from his right nostril and stained the sheet. No one was sufficiently alert to collect this fluid when it dropped to the bed sheets, but it was thought to be cerebrospinal fluid. Repeated examination of the pharynx did not reveal a postnasal drip. It was noted that on both occasions when fluid was seen to run from the right nostril the patient was restless and a change of posture was involved.
