Various theories on why juvenile delinquency exists are introduced, how various environments affect and are affected by delinquency are considered, and how various interventions attempt to deal with delinquency are assessed.
The objective of this course is to explore juvenile delinquency: what it is, its individual and social causes, and ways to prevent or manage it. Specifically, you will be introduced to various theories on why juvenile delinquency exists, consider how various environments affect and are affected by delinquency, and assess how various interventions attempt to deal with delinquency. Patterns of delinquency among different groups will also be covered, including how issues of class, race, and gender relate to juvenile delinquency.
