Abstract

In this research, the intricate relationship between mental health and social media is examined. Although social media offers many benefits, such as enhancing knowledge accessibility and fostering meaningful connections, its growing use also presents considerable risks to mental health. This abstract includes details on heightened anxiety, sadness, and diminished self-esteem. Social comparison, online abuse, and FOMO are frequently linked to these illnesses. Numerous concepts have been put forward to deal with these adverse consequences. Mental health counselling (CBT), educating people the way to use media properly and organised social interactions in the real world are all part of the mixed-methods approach. System dynamics simulations and weekly psychology tests are also used to support the approach. Over six weeks, participants in the study had considerable improvements in all outcome measures compared to the control group, including anxiety (which decreased by 30.6%), depression (which decreased by 33.3%), and self-esteem (which increased by 25.4%). The uniqueness and efficacy of this method in connecting theoretical suggestions with practical, scalable solutions are validated by a comparative SOTA study. To promote healthy digital behaviour and improve psychological well-being within the ever-more-connected society, this study offers a verified, data-driven plan of action.
