Abstract

he present invention is provided with a wave transmission unit that transmits energy waves (ultrasonic waves) to a region to be detected. The present invention is also provided with a wave reception unit, which receives the energy waves reflected by means of an object that is present in the region to be detected, and which converts the received energy waves into wave reception signals configured from electrical signals. Furthermore, the present invention is provided with: a control unit that performs control such that the wave transmission unit continuously transmits the energy waves in a predetermined wave transmission period; and a measuring unit that measures a distance to the object on the basis of the wave reception signals outputted from the wave reception unit. The control unit is configured to change the wave transmission period corresponding to the distance measured by means of the measuring unit.
