Force detection of high-frequency electron spin resonance near room temperature using high-power millimeter-wave source gyrotron

Applied Physics Letters
We report the measurement of force-detected electron spin resonance (FDESR) at 154 GHz using a gyrotron. The high output power allows the use of a strong transverse magnetic field larger than 1 0 − 4 T, which is sufficient to cause ESR saturation. We obtained the FDESR signal with a high spin sensitivity on the order of 1012 spins/G at 280 K. Our system has promising applications in high-frequency ESR studies of low-spin concentration samples, such as metalloprotein solutions.

The result of exact model matching for delay systems developed by the author is extended to the adaptive control of delay systems. Likewise, using results from the adaptive control of systems without delay, the principle of constructing adaptive systems for delay plants is also very simple and clear.

Plant Cell and Environment
A comparison of Ppc1, Imt1, and B5 transcript levels after exposure of plants to growth regulators and to different environmental stress treatments that affect plant water status indicated that, despite the coordinated transcriptional activation of these genes during salt stress, their repsonses to other stimuli that also upset water balance are not the same.

Perspectives on Politics
between Roman citizens and foreign peoples (gentes). In the sixth century, the Justinian Code extended the ius gentium by conceiving it as an aspect of natural law, thus making it the basis for a law which could be applied to relations among all peoples. It was natural law and, more specifically, this late Roman understanding of the law of nations as a secondary natural law that became the focus of attempts to justify and regulate empire and colonization until the end of the eighteenth century. All three of the jurists who are considered to be the “fathers of international law,” Francisco de V...
