TL;DR
It was decided, therefore, to estimate the17-ketosteroid andpregnanediol concentrations of each specimen of urine collected during themenstrual cycles of anumber ofhirsute women and to report the results of these experiments.

EndocrinologySTUDIES ON CORPUS LUTEUM FUNCTION I. THE URINARY EXCRETION OF SODIUM PREGNANEDIOL GLUCURONIDATE IN THE HUMAN MENSTRUAL CYCLE.
152 Citations1937Eleanor H. Venning, J. S. L. Browne
This work reported that 20 litres of urine collected during pregnancy and the latter half of the menstrual cycle contained only 1 Clauberg Rb.U.
Journal of EndocrinologyTHE QUANTITATIVE DETERMINATION OF SMALL AMOUNTS OF PREGNANEDIOL IN HUMAN URINE
58 Citations1946I.F. Sommerville, Nancy R. Gough +1 more
EndocrinologyA STUDY OF THE METABOLISM OF CRYSTALLINE PROGESTERONE
55 Citations1940Eleanor H. Venning, J. S. L. Browne
Endome-trial studies conclude that progesterone is inefficiently utilized in patients with func-tional irregularities of uterine bleeding and no evidence was encountered that crystallineprogesterone was metabolized into sodium pregnandiol glucuronidate.
Experimental Biology and MedicineRecovery of Pregnandiol in Urine of Men Treated with Progesterone.
40 Citations1939C. Lee Buxton, Ulrich Westphal
Sodium pregnandiol glucuroni-date was found only in pregnancy or in women with functioning endometriums, and it has now been demonstrated in the urine of 2 men suffering with Addison's disease who were treated with 30 mg of progesterone daily.
NatureAndrogenic Activity of Ovarian Extracts
38 Citations1937A. S. Parkes
Since the comb of the domestic hen atrophies after ovariectomy and responds to male hormone but not to œstrone, its increase in size during the laying season presumably indicates production of androgenic substance by the active ovary.
Journal of Clinical InvestigationA QUANTITATIVE STUDY OF THE URINARY EXCRETION OF HYPOPHYSEAL GONADOTROPIN, ESTROGEN, AND ANDROGEN OF NORMAL WOMEN
36 Citations1941Sidney C. Werner
The demonstration of the excretion of androgenic substances soon followed, and methods of assay were provided by the capon comb method and the colorimetric reaction of Zimmermann, and excretion products of progesterone were shown to appear in the urine.
Biochemical JournalUrinary excretion of pregnanediol in human subjects following the administration of progesterone and of pregnane-3α:20α-diol. 1
27 Citations1950I.F. Sommerville, G. F. Marrian
BMJ17-Ketosteroid Excretion in Adrenal Virilism
24 Citations1942Joshua T. Patterson, I. M. McPhee +1 more
It is felt that only when due consideration is given to such evolutionary factors as have here been instanced shall the authors get a true picture of the origin of many foot troubles or be able-to explain their distribution among the population-well shod, badlyShod, or even completely unshod.
Biochemical JournalThe estimation of a fraction resembling pregnanediol glucuronide in human urine
22 Citations1948N.G. Bisset, B. W. L. Brooksbank +1 more
The present work arose out of an attempt to improve existing methods and it was decided in the first place to employ the naphthoresorcinol reaction for estimating glucuronide, which was found to indicate the presence of glucuronidate, resembling NaPG closely in its solubility in butanol and its behaviour on entraiument, in great excess of the amount of NaPG which would be expected.
The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & MetabolismTHE EXCRETION OF 17-KETOSTEROIDS IN IDIOPATHIC HIRSUTISM
19 Citations1949Peter Koets
The following report deals with the 17-ketosteroid excretion of 9 patients complaining of increased growth of facial and body hair.
Biochemical JournalUrinary excretion of prenanediol in human subjects following the administration of progesterone and of pregnane-3α:20α-diol. 2
14 Citations1950I.F. Sommerville, G. F. Marrian
The present authors reinvestigate the conversion of administered progesterone into urinary pregnanediol in human subjects using a method believed to be more accurate at pregnane-3a:20a-diol excretion levels below about 10 mg./24 hr than any that had hitherto been described.
EndocrinologyURINARY EXCRETION OF PREGNANDIOL COMPLEX BY MALES I. FOLLOWING INTRAMUSCULAR ADMINISTRATION OF PROGESTERONE1
12 Citations1940E. C. HAMBLEN, W. Kenneth Cuyler +1 more
The metabolism of exogenous progesterone by healthy males is investigated because it has been suggested that this might be the cause of the poor endometriotropic responses commonly observed following this form of therapy in patients with estrogenic bleeding.
EndocrinologyCOMPARISON OF ASSAY METHODS USING INTERNATIONAL STANDARD LACTOGEN1,2
10 Citations1941J. Meites, A Bergman +1 more
The amounts of the International Standard required to produce a unit response by various modes of administration in the pigeon which are used in routine assays in the laboratory were determined.
