Social justice in a global context: Education Queensland's 2010 strategy

Abstract

Educational globalization has seen the convergence of key policy ideas emerging from new human capital theory, new public management theory and new concerns with social cohesion. Such convergence, however, does not imply policy uniformity given the mediating effects of local policymaking. The tensions between the local and global are highlighted through an analysis of how equity issues are addressed within Education Queensland's 2010 Strategy. The implications of the Strategy for social justice in Queensland education are discussed.
