Abstract

Clinical procedures for replacing stuttering in adults and adolescents with normal speech are described. Goals to be achieved in the management of fluency, rate, breathstream, prosody, and self-confidence are presented, along with the sequential steps necessary to achieve these goals. Techniques for generalizing normal speech from the clinic to everyday situations are detailed, and suggestions are offered for making speech improvements permanent.
