Abstract

Abstract Until recently little comprehensive effort has been expended in an attempt to identify the variables that affect a supervisor's use of rewards and punishments. Yet, the identification of these factors is critical if we are to fully understand these important forms of leader behavior. Research relevant to this topic is reviewed and, when indicated by the data, future research is suggested.
