TL;DR

There is some evidence that clinical supervision has been attempted through group work and has been variously reported on, but the results are often contradictory and there is much work to be done in evaluating the usefulness of support and stress reduction.

Abstract

Clinical supervision clearly has a part to play in the provision of support to nurses and may provide a vehicle for stress reduction. There is some evidence that clinical supervision has been attempted through group work and has been variously reported on. The results are often contradictory and it is clear that there is much work to be done in evaluating the usefulness of support and stress reduction. What follows is a review of some of the debate.
