Abstract
Male mice were given either testosterone, estrogen, or oil within 2–20 hr of birth. The development of sexual responses, and certain aspects of adult sexual behavior, were then observed. Testosterone-treated males ejaculated at an earlier age than oil- or estrogen-treated males, but testosterone did not affect the adult mating pattern. The estrogen-treated males were significantly older at first ejaculation than either the oil- or testosteronetreated males. When tested in adulthood, the estrogen-treated group showed an increase in the amount of time and genital stimulation preceding ejaculation.
