Alternate route: toward efficient urban transportation

Abstract

Alternate Route provides a devastating critique of public sector involvement in urban transportation. Skillfully employing sophisticated econometric methods, the authors conclude that efforts to improve transit operating efficiency could yield annual net benefits in excess of $10 billion (1990) dollars a year.
