Abstract

Seasonality is often removed from economic time series data to clarify structure and process. In the tourism industry, to remove seasonality is to lose information. Seasonal employment information is useful for the definition of the market both temporally and geographically. Harmonic analysis applied to northern Michigan reveals the influence of tourism on the magnitude and timing of seasonal employment.
