Abstract
By using the jet calculus technique, the size of the colour singlet clusters of emitted partons of mass Q0 is estimated. For α(Q20)π⪅1, the average mass of these clusters turns out to be a few GeV, thus suggesting phenomenological applications of preconfinement in pertubbative QCD. This result is very sensitive to the correct treatment of infrared singularities.
