Plasma sodium and the EEG during the menstrual cycle of normal human females

Abstract

EEG and biochemical observations are described in the inter- and pre-menstrual phases of the menstrual cycle in twelve normal females. Significant associations have been found between changes in the Mean Abundances of 7, 8 and 9 c/sec activity and changes in plasma sodium. Significant relationships have also been elicited between changes in plasma sodium and changes in intra-erythrocytic potassium levels. Some of the possible implications of these findings are discussed. Des observations biochimiques sont rapportées concernant les phases inter- et pré-menstruelles du cycle menstruel chez douze femmes normales. Des rapports significatifs ont été établis entre les modifications des Abondances Moyennes des activités à 7, 8 et 9 c/sec et les modifications du sodium plasmatique. Des rapports significatifs ont été constatés également entre les modifications du sodium plasmatique et les modifications des taux de potassium intra-erythrocytaire. Certains aspects de la portée de ces résultats sont discutés.
