Abstract

More than any other mode of retail distribution, door-to-door marketing is under attack by consumer advocates. The following article identifies the sources of conflict between the consumer and the sales person—what the advantages and what the disadvantages are to each in this approach to selling. From these evaluations, the author suggests ways management can help to reduce the level of stigma facing direct-to-home selling.
