Abstract

THE PROBLEM The concept of the Achievement Syndrome as a psychocultural variable essential to any consideration of social mobility has been introduced into the literature by Rosen (16, 17). Rosen's work reflects a heightened concern during the last decade with developing quantitative approaches to this problem area. The present study is an investigation of mobility aspiration making use of the quantitative techniques employed by Rosen and by Dynes, Clarke, and Dinitz (6).
