Abstract

Abstract The term Smart Planner is coined to describe smart card-based meeting management applications to increase attendee satisfaction, increase communications, and strengthen coordination with improved operational efficiency. The value of a Smart Planner lies in its capability to store data locally with a high degree of security and portability. This article describes the potential for applying smart card technology to the meeting industry. It also identifies some challenges that need to be met before Smart Planners can become commonplace in the meeting experience.
