Pitts, also wanted to sponsor a new journal. Garrison expressed concern that any new journal be “truly international in scope” and that it not be oriented to ward a particular region of the United States. Following correspondence between King and Garrison, it was pointed out that the new journal would be international in scope and would have an international board of editors. At this point Garrison produced strong support from the I.G.U. Commission on Quantitative Geography for the development of the new journal.
