Abstract

Westkott's frequently cited paper was one of the earliest to indicate the critical potential of feminist work to influence the social sciences. Her theses that knowledge is inherently dialectical and that feminist inquiry has emancipatory as well as critical power were referred to in the Introduction of this volume. This article develops these themes in a sophisticated analysis of the impact of feminist inquiry on content, theory, and method in the social sciences.
