Abstract
WHAT IS GOING on in the Japanese mind today and how are we going to terret it out? Both are obviously vital questions in building the peace, and, equally obviously, opinion analysis would be valuable. But can the tortuous social and linguistic obstacles be overcome enough to make opinion analysis in Japan valuable? Lt. Knutson's answer is suggestive-and qualified.
