Abstract
AbstractThe present study concerns the satisfaction with the mental health service in two Danish community mental health centres in a group of patients and relatives accepting participation in a psychoeducational programme. Forty-six patients with the clinical diagnosis of schizophrenia (ICD-10; F20.00-20.99) or schizoaffective psychosis (ICD-10; F25.00-F25.91) and 34 of their relatives were included. Satisfaction was measured multidimensionally with the VSSS-54 (Verona Service Satisfaction Scale). There was a high total satisfaction score both in patients and relatives, although the relatives were significantly less satisfied than the patients in the VSSS' subdimensions of Information and Relatives Involvement. The lowest satisfaction in patients (50.0%) and in relatives (20.7%) was found for Relatives Involvement. Both patients (65.2%) and relatives (50.0%) had a low satisfaction score in the Information dimension. The patients indicated a high satisfaction with regard to Efficacy of Treatment (87.0%), in contrast to the relatives, who indicated a lower satisfaction (48.5%) with this dimension. Differences in satisfaction between centres were small.
