Abstract
Abstract This chapter describes and offers an example of the application of methods of spatial analysis that can be used to study ethnic neighborhoods, and by extension, to study neighborhoods defined by any other social characteristic. We use the cases of Chinese and Filipinos in Los Angeles in 1990 for illustration. Many members of these groups live in ethnic neighborhoods, and people living near these neighborhoods are very aware of their ethnic character.
