Abstract
This paper is a brief account of the research undertaken at the Research Centre of the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade (NICEF) on developing information systems for the tourist industry of Yugoslavia, which is supported by the EC and the Yugoslav government. Dr Ognjen Bakic, who led the research, presents the first phase, which focused on IS implementation in the tourist industry. It will provide the groundwork for the second phase - construction of a model - now underway.
