Abstract
ERSS 2008 attempted to rectify certain issues of ERSS 2007. The improvements to readability, however, do not reflect in significant score increases, and in fact the system fell in overall ranking. While we have not concluded our analysis, we present some preliminary observations here.
Keywords
Computer Science
{Using Knowledge-poor Coreference Resolution for Text Summarization}
39 Citations2003Sabine Bergler, René Witte +8 more
A system that produces 10-word summaries based on the single summarization strategy of outputting noun phrases representing the most important text entities (as represented by noun phrase coreference chains) is presented.
Lecture notes in computer scienceFuzzy Clustering for Topic Analysis and Summarization of Document Collections
26 Citations2007René Witte, Sabine Bergler
A clustering algorithm based on fuzzy set theory, which is easy to implement and integrate into a personal information system, generates a highly flexible data structure for topic analysis and summarization, and also delivers excellent performance is shown.
Generating Update Summaries for DUC 2007
18 Citations2007René Witte, Ralf Krestel +1 more
This paper shows how to generate this kind of summary from the same data structure—fuzzy coreference cluster graphs—as all other generic and focused multi-document summaries.
Context-based Multi-Document Summarization using Fuzzy Coreference Cluster Graphs
14 Citations2006René Witte, Ralf Krestel +1 more
A fuzzy cluster graph algorithm is presented that finds entities and their connections between context and documents based on fuzzy coreference chains and the design and implementation of the ERSS summarizer implementing these ideas are described.
Multi-ERSS and ERSS 2004
11 Citations2004Sabine Bergler, René Witte +5 more
An improved version of ERSS, based on a knowledge-poor extraction of noun phrase coreference chains implemented on a fuzzy set theoretic base, and an extension of the same basic system: Multi-ERSS constructs 100-word extract summaries for clusters of texts.
ERSS 2005: Coreference-Based Summarization Reloaded
10 Citations2005René Witte, Ralf Krestel +1 more
Interestingly, the ranking of the ERSS system differs greatly between the different measures; this effect is attempted to analyse based on correlations between theDifferent results using the Spearman coefficient.
