Abstract

Objectives: To discuss the risk factors for postpartum depression.Method: We selected 500 puerperae who kept their postpartum health record in our hospital from January to November 2011,and evaluted their maternal demographic,post-natal conditions and post-natal depression status.Results: Out of 500 puerperae,there were 120 cases of postpartum depression(24.0%).Univariate analysis showed that the impact of age,incision pain,literacy level,neonatal growth and marital relations had statistical significance on maternal depression(P0.05).Results of multiple linear regression showed that neonatal growth,marital relations and age were the main risk factors(P0.01).Conclusion: Main risk factors for the postpartum depression were age,neonatal growth and marital relations.Prevention and treatment of postpartum depression should be based on these risk factors.
