TL;DR
Outcomes of different types of cognitive behavior therapy for sub-threshold depression are partly predicted by different participant characteristics, while altruism seems to be exclusively related to more favorable outcomes in the group treatment.
Abstract
Outcomes of different types of cognitive behavior therapy for sub-threshold depression are partly predicted by different participant characteristics. Neuroticism was associated with worse outcomes in both types of treatment, while altruism seems to be exclusively related to more favorable outcomes in the group treatment.

American Journal of PsychiatryPersonality Pathology and Treatment Outcome in Major Depression: A Review
352 Citations2002Roger Mulder
Clinically, the best-designed studies reported the least effect of personality pathology on depression treatment outcome, which suggests that comorbid personality pathology should not be seen as an impediment to good treatment response.

Predictors of dropout included baseline patient characteristics, but not early response to treatment, and ethnic and racial minorities and those with comorbid anxiety are at higher risk of premature termination, particularly in pharmacotherapy, and may require modified treatment strategies.

168 Citations1998Mark Hyman Rapaport
This is the first study to quantify functional impairment and the severity of depressive symptomatology in a clinical sample of patients with minor depressive disorder and to demonstrate that treatment with a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor decreases depressive symptom atology and improves psychosocial functioning.

Psychology and Psychotherapy Theory Research and PracticeOutcome of cognitive behaviour therapy for minor depression in routine practice
14 Citations2005Pim Cuijpers, Filip Smit +2 more
The improvement in terms of depressive symptoms in routine practice does not differ from the improvement found in a randomized trial, however, participants remained considerably more depressed than the general population and this intervention is, for many, not sufficient as a form of treatment.
